6 entertaining party games for your next night in
Is it even a houseparty when there aren’t any games for the night? Game night has become increasingly popular among people, especially since going out is not always feasible in the current environment. Why do we need a club when we can turn our house into a themed party place anyway? There are several board games, drinking games, and guessing games that keep the party going; take your pick of them below!
Head’s Up!
This classic! We know this game got extremely popular thanks to Ellen DeGeneres playing this with her guests every week. All you have to do is download the app and choose a category you would like to work with. After that, you have to put the phone up on your forehead with the screen visible to the rest of the group. You will have to now guess the word on the screen based on the clues given by the rest of the group. Simple, yet so much fun!
Taboo
Another guess-the-word game but with some different rules! This is a card game and there can be multiple players. Person A has to select a card and make their team guess this word by describing it to them. Simple, yes? No! There are some closely-related terms that cannot be used while describing the ultimate word. A person from another team keeps a check on these “taboo” verbatims.
Pictionary
There is a drawer, and then there are the guessers. The idea is that the drawer will select a word that they will doodle for their team without speaking or giving any verbal hints. The drawer’s team is to guess this word only by visual cues. You can either buy a Pictionary set or even simply make your own Pictionary cue cards at home.
Psych
Psych is another entertaining party game that can easily be played by anyone who has a smartphone. Unlike Head’s Up though, the app needs to be downloaded by every member who wishes to play. Here’s how it works:
- Download and launch the app.
- Enter your name.
- The app will then ask a question to all the members.
- Members have to submit their answers anonymously.
- The members can then choose the funniest response and that answer wins the round!
Kings
Kings is the classic drinking game for any party! You can find an online version of it or even make up your own rules as you go along. The objective of the game is, essentially, to get buzzed. There are no winners or losers because everyone ends up participating, having fun, and sharing a great laugh. There can be rules like: “Whoever holds their beer with their left hand will have to chug their drink” or “Anyone who wants to speak has to end the sentence with a laugh” or “Anyone who doesn’t take two sips of their drink next has to chug their drink.” The rules can be flexible and fun and are entirely customizable.
Password
Jimmy Fallon often plays this game with his guests and it can be pretty entertaining! This is how it goes:
- Person A is given a word.
- Person A has to use only one other word to describe this said word to their team member.
- The team member then tries to guess it. If they guess correctly, they win; otherwise, Team B gets a chance to repeat this same process.
- Whoever can guess the word at the end is the winner!
Some other games to try would be Cards Against Humanity, Mystery Word, Human Cluedo, and Beer Pong.
