The Samsung Galaxy S line of the Samsung Galaxy phones have proved to be revolutionary since they came out in 2010. At the time, they had the fastest processing speeds and even now they hold the competitive edge over all their rivals as any Samsung Galaxy phones’ comparison will inform you.
Since they were launched, comparisons have helped users and interested buyers understand which Samsung Galaxy phone is the best for them.
Display : For those who want a bold and good display size, S9 and S8 both have a 5.8 inches display while the S5 clocks a slightly smaller display at 5.2 inches.
Resolutions : Here, again the S8 and S9 outperform the S5 by having a 1440×2960 pixels display while the S5 comes with a 1080×1920 pixels display.
Display features : Here, all three phones are almost comparable with all having scratch-resistant glass, ambient light and proximity sensors. The S8 and S9 have HDR support as an extra feature.
Camera : The camera in all the Samsung Galaxy phones is an excellent one with the S8 and S9 featuring a slightly more advanced technology. But for the layman, there really isn’t much difference in the quality of pictures taken. Having said that, the S5 camera is 2.1 megapixels while the S8 and S9 boast of a whopping 8 megapixels. Moreover, the S5 lacks autofocus and HDR mode, but camera enthusiasts are not too perturbed by that.
Design : All three phones are nearly equal in weight. The main body of the S5 is plastic whereas the main body of the S8 and S9 is glass. Thus, while the former is more rugged, the latter looks and feels a little better. The S5 has fingerprint recognition while the S8 and S9 have the additional Iris scanner and facial recognition. However, the S5 features touch sensitive control keys; a feature that is absent in the other two.
Hardware : They all boast excellent battery life (with the S5 ahead in standby time) and have great RAM (2GB for the S5 and 4GB for the S8 and S9). Internal storage of the S5 is 32GB, for the S8 it is 64GB while for the S9 it is 256GB. The S8 and S9 run on the latest Android OS 8.0 while the S5 can run on Android 6 at best.
So, what does this Samsung Galaxy phones’ comparison show? While the S9 is the most advanced phone among the three, the S5 is an affordable and rugged variant that may not have all the features of the S9 but can be expected to do the job. The S8 is a good in between, boasting excellent technology at a more affordable price than the S9. The S9 is for tech-lovers, the S8 is for those wanting a balance while the S5 is for casual users who simply want a good phone.
