iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max – Here’s what’s new
On Tuesday, September 10, Apple finally launched this year’s most anticipated iPhone series at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. All three phones – the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max come with the powerful A13 Bionic chip that renders exceptional performance while resourcefully using the battery life. Needless to say, you can expect a smooth and efficient user experience from all the phones. Then again, many factors make the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max starkly different from the iPhone 11 including the camera system, battery life, and display.
While the flagships, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max come with a starting price of $999 and $1,099, the iPhone XR successor is comparatively cheaper; its basic model costs only $699. All the phones will be made available for pre-order on September 13 and will be in the stores from September 20 onwards.
Design and display
Apple is known for its sophisticated phone design and as expected even this time, they don’t disappoint. The body of iPhone 11 is designed using glass and aluminum, whereas the iPhone 11 Pro models are created with textured matte glass and stainless steel. To ensure that all three phones are highly durable, Apple has used the toughest ever glass in its design. Likewise, all phones are water-resistant. Unlike the iPhone 11 Pro that offers water resistance up to 4 meters, the iPhone 11 only offers 2 meters.
When it comes to the display, Apple has employed a new Super Retina XDR display in iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. This offers viewers an enthralling HDR experience to watch movies and other high-definition content with nearly 1,200 nits brightness. Alternatively, iPhone 11 features a Liquid Retina display, however, it doesn’t support HDR like iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.
A common factor in all three phones is the wide color support along with True Tone to render a natural viewing experience. Similarly, since the Haptic Touch is tightly integrated with iOS 13, users can quickly access their favorite apps.
A13 Bionic chip
Apple’s fastest ever smartphone chip, the A13 Bionic improves performance of the latest iPhones’ CPU and GPU by 20%. Developed for machine learning, this chip is furnished with a faster Neural Engine for real-time analysis of pictures and videos. Furthermore, the new Machine Learning Accelerators enable the CPU to deliver over 1 trillion operations per second.
While the A13 Bionic chip executes demanding tasks in conjunction with the iOS 13, it also manages to keep the phones juiced up for a longer time, especially in iPhone 11 Pro models. The iPhone 11 Pro provides an extra four hours of battery than the iPhone XS. Similarly, iPhone Pro Max offers five more hours of battery life than iPhone XS Max.
Camera system
The new camera systems used in the iPhone 11 series are all deeply integrated with iOS to deliver a pro-level camera experience. One aspect that makes iPhone 11 Pro models different from iPhone 11 is their camera system. The iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max features an innovative triple-camera system that accommodates Ultra Wide, Wide and Telephoto cameras. On the other hand, iPhone 11 comes with a dual-camera system comprising Ultra Wide and Wide cameras. All three phones shoot stunning 4K videos, but iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max offer a better experience because of its triple-camera setup. The Telephoto lens used in the 11 Pro models have a bigger ƒ/2.0 aperture that allows capturing 40% more light than iPhone XS.
While the superior camera tech gives iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max an added advantage over iPhone 11, Apple offers great features in iPhone 11 and 11 Pro models such as Night mode, auto adjustments, brighter True Tone flash with Slow Sync, Portrait mode with advanced bokeh and Depth Control, Portrait Lighting, and enhanced video editing tools. Also for the first time, users can record videos without having to switch out of the Photo mode with the help of feature known as QuickTake where one simply has to hold the shutter button to start shooting.
iOS 13
iOS 13 is one of the factors that makes the user experience incredibly seamless. Apple has intelligently combined this intuitive software with the impressive hardware to deliver some demanding tasks while smartly utilizing the battery life. The iOS 13 has come up with a brand-new Dark Mode that allows users to sign in to apps and websites in a highly secure way.
iOS 13 particularly makes the photo and video editing experience more comprehensive. For example, the new High-Key Mono effect can be used to create gorgeous, monochromatic pictures in Portrait mode. The Portrait Lighting feature can be used to change the intensity of the light on the subject to make the photograph tasteful.
Along with the unveiling of the new iPhones, Apple also announced the launch of the Watch Series 5 and an all-new iPad Pro.
