JEEP® Grand Cherokee – The Ultimate Off-roading SUV
Most sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) are designed for basic off-roading. Many of the newer large-size SUVs offer big engine blocks, and even hybrid options are capable of delivering what is promised, a thrilling drive! JEEP® is one of the premier names in the automobile industry, specializing in large-size premium SUVs. The new JEEP® Grand Cherokee carries a hefty price tag, but the features make it well worth it. Here is a brief overview.
Offroad capabilities
The new JEEP® Grand Cherokee is built for off-roading and offers a ton of cool features that no other SUV in its class promises for the price. Firstly, you get a Selec-Terrain® Traction system that controls the 4×4 drivetrain and modifies the driving style for four different modes. You can switch between Snow, Sand, Rock, or Sport or even keep the console in Auto mode. A unique adjustable Quadra-Lift® suspension keeps the ride height low for high-speed highway driving to improve aerodynamics. Once you hit the off-ramp and exit into the wilderness, the suspension kit adjusts to increase ride height and provide more traction. This multi-functionality increases handling, stability, and control. Even the 4×4 systems are available in three different modifications depending on the trim variant and build. The Grand Cherokee gets its own Trail Rated® 4xe TRAILHAWK® system that is solely designed to improve and enhance the off-road experience. Even the optimized wheel-based, precision steering, and extra ground clearance add to the stability and enhance maneuverability of the JEEP®.
Engine and performance
You need a massive powerhouse packed under that hood to manage all those off-roading adventures. And the all-new JEEP® Grand Cherokee ticks across the board, delivering just that with V6, V8, and Turbo PHEV engines. The 3.6L PENTASTAR® V6 generates 260 lbs. of torque that may not look very impressive but is sufficient for all the off-roading you can try out with the vehicle. The 5.7L HEMI® V8 delivers as promised, generating a massive 390 lbs. of torque. A higher torque also means increased towing capacity. The 2.0L I4 DOHC DI TURBO PHEV Engine is a unique one-off hybrid that generates a massive 470 lbs. of torque, perfect for thrilling terrain driving. If budget is not a major hurdle, you can definitely go for the PHEV hybrid engine to maximize the Grand Cherokee’s performance.
Interior and exterior
The all-new JEEP® Grand Cherokee is a big boy car, so obviously, it needs to look like one. The 2023 trims come with a rugged styling exterior and luxurious interior that are polar opposites of what you would expect from an off-roader SUV. The Cherokee is also available in two-row or three-row trims, so the exterior would change depending on your selection. Inside the Cherokee, you get 16-way adjustable seats, ambient LED lighting, and plenty of leg room for even the second and third rows. The third-row seats even fold in and out of sight to double up the cargo space. A fully functional state-of-the-art system lets you enjoy a 17-channel amplifier and 19 custom-designed speakers. The rear-seat monitoring camera lets you drive without having to look back every five minutes to ensure your kids, pets, or any other precious cargo is seated safely.
Trims and cost
The new JEEP Grand Cherokee is available in six unique trims, starting with the base Laredo priced at $39,395. The Cherokee Altitude, Limited, and Overland are priced at $44,105, $46,215, and $56,305, offering the 4×2 drivetrain as well. The Grand Cherokee Summit and Summit Reserve are the most expensive trims starting at $60,070 and $66,550, respectively. Also, the summit Reserve Trim is available in a 4×4 drivetrain configuration. All trim variants come with 8-speed automatic transmission with engine customizations per your build choice. Note that any modifications will affect the base price. Also, the new JEEP Grand 4xe gives you three different driving modes: Hybrid, Electric, and eSave. The Hybrid mode lets you embrace adventure with a 25-mile all-electric driving range and 470-mile combined driving range.
