Key Highlights of the Galaxy S24 Series
Samsung made a splash last year with the flagship S24 series that took the market by storm. This series included three new smartphones – the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. From new artificial intelligence features powered by Google’s Gemini to a range of performance, processor, screen resolution, hardware, battery, software, and camera upgrades, Samsung’s reimagination of smartphone capabilities with the S24 series renewed customer interest in the company and its offerings.
Galaxy S24 Series – Specifications
1. Processor and storage
A standard processor is offered on all variants of the S24—the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. This high-end SoC (system-on-chip) is tiny but powerful. It holds stellar AI capabilities and delivers superior performance and better efficiency. This 8-core CPU is considered to be about 20% faster and more efficient than its predecessor. The upgraded GPU also improves graphics rendering and power efficiency significantly by 30%.
Buyers will find a significant difference in the internal memory and storage capabilities of the S24. In the base variant (S24), the phone has 8GB RAM and two storage options—128GB and 256GB. With the S24+, the RAM increases to 12GB, and the storage options upgrade to 256GB and 512GB. The top-of-the-line S24 Ultra features 12GB RAM, with three storage options—256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.
2. AI Assist
Samsung claims to be ushering in a new era of mobile AI with the Galaxy S24 series. Calling them “smartest AI phones ever,” the company introduces features such as Circle to Search, Live Translate, Note Assist, and Generative Edit, which completely transform the user experience.
- Circle to Search: Look up anything on the screen by simply circling it with the S-pen or one’s fingers. Whether the query is in the form of text, image, or even a part of a video, users now have a new way of exploring relevant results without ever having to leave their feed.
- Live Translate: Break down language barriers and make room for easy and comfortable communication with the Live Translate feature, which can translate texts, phone calls, and more.
- Chat Assist: Integrated with Samsung’s keyboard, this feature helps users change the tone, spelling, and grammar of their messages to make them sound more casual, social, or professional.
- Note Assist: Do away with the worry of summarizing notes. Simply start typing, and the Note Assist feature will offer a clear and easy-to-review summary of the text.
- Generative Edit: The Samsung S24 series introduces a new way of editing photos and videos with the generative editing capabilities of the ProVisual Engine. It allows users to quickly check what their super-vivid captures would look like (even within other applications) and resize and retouch photos by filling in empty spaces and moving objects around with ease.
3. Battery
The base model—S24—features a 4,000 mAh battery, while the S24+ and Ultra are fitted with 4,900 mAh and 5,000 mAh batteries, respectively, giving users enough power to last throughout the day. Qi wireless charging and power-sharing features continue on these models as well.
4. Camera
The S24 and the S24+ have similar camera specs—a 50MP wide lens and 12MP ultra-wide lens on the back, with a 10MP Tele 3x optical zoom and 30x space zoom, and a 12MP wide front camera.
Those interested in professional photography or videography will be impressed by the top variant, Samsung S24 Ultra. It has a 200MP wide lens and 12MP ultra-wide lens in the rear, with a 10MP Tele 3x zoom, and 50MP Tele 5x zoom. The front camera remains the same (12MP). The bigger sensor and brighter lens on the S24 Ultra also make it much more capable than its predecessor, even in low light conditions.
To further up the ante on the S24’s photography skills, all the variants feature dual aperture, flow detection, and scene optimization qualities that ensure brilliant shots every time.
5. Design and Hardware
One of the most telling physical differences between the Samsung phones in this series is their sizes. The S24 comes in at 6.2”, the S24+ at 6.7”, and the Ultra at 6.8”. Each of these features a dynamic AMOLED 2x display to offer users a more immersive experience. They are also equipped with Samsung’s Ultrasonic fingerprint scanners to ensure user safety and privacy.
The design of the S24 Ultra has also been revamped slightly to create a flat display with slimmer bezels and a Corning Gorilla Glass Armor top plate to reduce reflections. With this variant, Samsung also transitioned from aluminum to a titanium alloy frame to add strength and improve heat dissipation. While the S-pen is integrated with the S24 Ultra, it is incompatible with the other variants in this series.
Samsung S24 Series – Price
Currently, the S24 is selling at a market price of $800, the S24+ for $1,000, and the S24 Ultra for $1,300. It is important to note that these prices are subject to change; with the company’s trade-in offers, accessories, and other add-ons, buyers can bring these costs down significantly.
The introduction of AI capabilities into daily smartphone usage has been one of the biggest selling points of the S24 series. With truly smart features available right from the base model, it is no surprise that the phone has catapulted in popularity and won critical acclaim nationwide.
