Samsung UNPACKED 2020 – Speculations, leaks, and more
Samsung is all set to roll out the brand-new smartphone series in its press event, the Samsung Galaxy UNPACKED on February 11, 2020, in San Francisco where it promises to “unveil new, innovative devices that will shape the next decade of mobile experiences.” It is already in news for various new developments in its latest line of smart devices. Needless to mention, there are speculations, rumors, and leaks that’ll keep buzzing until Samsung takes the stage on Tuesday.
The successor of the Galaxy S10 will be rechristened as Samsung Galaxy S20 (previously known as Samsung Galaxy S11). Plus, instead of 4, this year Samsung is planning to introduce three phones in the flagship lines, i.e., Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra. The flagship line is expected to be outfitted with the 5G modem which could help in bringing this recent wireless technology to the masses.
We are particularly eager to see if the tech giant launches the most coveted Galaxy Z Flip Foldable Phone that will compete with the Motorola Razr. Likewise, we could witness the arrival of Galaxy Buds Plus and maybe the Galaxy Watch 2.
Galaxy S20, S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra
Reportedly, the S20 and S20 Plus have an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, and 12-megapixel main and 64-megapixel telephoto with 3x digital zoom. In addition, these new phones will be probably bigger than their former iterations. The S20 is rumored to be designed with a 6.2-inch screen whereas the S20 Plus with a 6.7-inch display. Likewise, S20 Plus is mostly armed with a beefier battery of 4,500-mAh battery with 25-watt fast charging. Both these flagships may also forgo the 3.5mm headphone jack.
S20 Ultra, on the other hand, is expected to have all the features just as S20 and S20 Plus, but this ultra-premium model may include a larger screen, bigger battery, and some crazy camera features. The phone may have a massive AMOLED display (6.9 inches) with a 120Hz refresh rate. Similarly, the phone is said to be equipped with a 5,000-mAh battery with optional 45-watt fast-charger and RAM of up to 16GB.
Now let’s talk about the camera. It’s rumored to have a 108-megapixel main, 48-megapixel telephoto with 10x optical zoom, 12-megapixel ultrawide, and time-of-flight sensor. Undoubtedly, these mindboggling specifications have us excited about S20 Ultra’s camera performance.
We are assuming that the price of the Galaxy S20 series will match up to its rival, the iPhone 11 series. Here are the speculated costs for all three phones.
- Galaxy S20 – $850
- Galaxy S20 Plus – $950
- Galaxy S20 Ultra – $1,200
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip
Samsung might introduce Galaxy Z Flip that is somewhat a sibling of the 2019 Galaxy Fold. Purportedly, this old school flip handset may have a clamshell design along with a 6.7-inch screen. Moreover, this phone may probably cost less than the Galaxy Fold which has an asking price of approximately $2,000. The leaks further suggest that phone will have Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage. Alternatively, this device might skip the microSD card slot, 5G, and 3.5mm headphone port.
Galaxy Buds Plus
As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S20 series is rumored to be created without the 3.5mm headphone jack. So, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Samsung introduces the wireless Galaxy Buds Plus. It is speculated that these wireless audio accessories will boast improved call quality and battery life. Though it might not feature the active noise cancellation that was added to the AirPods last year.
Galaxy Watch 2
While there has not been a lot of buzz surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Watch 2, several tech enthusiasts are hoping to see a newer version with some key tech enhancements. It is rumored that the new edition will be 4G-enabled and we reckon it’ll be available in 40mm and 44mm variants. As compared to their predecessors they are also thought to have a superior battery life and storage space.
Besides the launch of the above-mentioned products, we think that Samsung might offer more details regarding Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite that were unveiled earlier this year. While we are acquainted with the Lite phones’ features, we are yet to know its price and availability. These are mostly expected to be low-cost alternatives to the Galaxy S20 flagship. Possibly, there could be an announcement in the press event about the 5G version of the Galaxy Tab S6 and Galaxy Home Mini.
The Samsung UNPACKED event will start at 11 am in San Francisco. For those who can’t attend the launch, Samsung will be live-streaming the press event via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and probably on their official site.
